Esther Maria Häusler

Seit 1982 choreografiert und tanzt Esther Maria Häusler eigene Stücke. Hauptsächlich an einer Berufsschule für Tanz und Gymnastik in Zürich und an der Martha-Graham-School in New York ausgebildet, lässt sie sich inspirieren vom japanischen Butoh (Ex-Mitglied einer Butoh-Compagnie), Schauspiel (in einem an der Experimenta 6 in Frankfurt gezeigten Theaterstück tanzt sie ein Solo), Film (für einen Film von Hans-Ulrich Schlumpf etwa choreografiert sie einen Cancan) und bildender Kunst (Projekte
in der Shedhalle Zürich, im Kunsthaus Glarus, im Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, im Kunsthaus Zürich oder im Kunsthaus Bregenz). Neben ihren zahlreichen Einzelperformances kreierte sie für die von ihr gegründete Swiss Performance Company diverse Gruppenproduktionen; sie erhielt ein künstlerisches Werkjahr der Stadt Zürich und wurde von zahlreichen Stiftungen unterstützt.
Prof. Esther Maria Häusler M.A. lehrt an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Departement Darstellende Künste und Film.

Esther Maria Haeusler has choreographed and performed her own works since 1982. She studied at the Graduate School of Dance and Gymnastics in Zurich and at the Martha-Graham-School in New York. She is inspired by the Japanese Buto (she was a member of a Buto company), by theatre (she danced a solo in a theatre piece at the International Festival Experimenta 6 in Frankfurt) and also by film (she choreographed a can-can in a film by Hans-Ulrich Schlumpf ). She is also inspired by visual arts and has performed in a number of fine art museums, such as the Kunsthaus Glarus, Kunsthaus Zurich, Kunsthaus Bregenz and others. She predominantly dances in solo performances, but has also choreographed some group performances with the Swiss Performance Company, which she founded.
She has received numerous prizes and grants by art foundations.
Esther Maria Haeusler M.A. is a professor in the drama and film departement of the Zurich University of the Arts.
